The poignant, personal stories told so beautifully in Second Class make you laugh and make you cry, but most of all they make you think – about what it means to be human and about what it means to care.

Second Class puts in perspective how much harm Amendment One will do to all unmarried couples and their families. I am so glad Touring Theatre did this. I hope it inspires people to get out and vote.

Using six actors, Second Class is a reader’s theatre production that offers personal narratives about individuals and families adversely affected by existing North Carolina laws, and articulates the threats to the Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender community, along with unmarried heterosexual partners inherent in the proposed Amendment One to the North Carolina constitution. In other words, the production tells how acts of injustice and discrimination have demeaned the LGBT population of North Carolina and have violated their fundamental rights as citizens.
